What should pregnant women do if they catch a cold in summer?

A cold during pregnancy is a big deal and must be taken seriously. First of all, when a pregnant woman catches a cold, she cannot treat it like normal. She needs to go to the hospital for a check-up, follow the doctor's advice, and take some medicine that is safe during pregnancy. You can also eat some light food. If the condition is very serious, you must seek timely treatment to avoid endangering the healthy growth of your baby. Here’s what to do if a pregnant woman catches a cold in the summer.

Use 2 or 3 pieces of scallion whites (must be fresh scallion whites, not other parts), about the length of your thumb, add 2 or 3 slices of peeled ginger, add water and boil together. Both ingredients should be put into the pot with cold water and boil together. It is best to use a casserole, not a metal one. You can boil it down to 2 or 3 times the amount (and boil it again next time you drink it), but I only boil down a small bowl of it each time. After drinking it while it is hot, cover yourself with a blanket and have a sleep immediately. It helps to reduce fever and induce sweating.

Boil water with fresh lilies until they are soft. Eat the lilies and drink the lily water instead of your daily drinking water to remove internal heat and prevent colds caused by it. Lily water is also very effective for sore throats. This is my favorite because lily has a naturally sweet flavor. The taste of lily water is similar to boiled water, nothing special.

Use the root of the cabbage, which is the part that we don’t use and is often cut off when eating cabbage. Wash it, add green onion and boil it in water. Drink it while it is hot. It has the effect of reducing fever and inducing sweating.

You must get more sleep when you have a cold. If your body temperature rises but feels only slightly higher than normal, you can drink some naturally cooled boiled water, drink more water and go to the toilet more often to eliminate toxins and internal heat in your body in time.

Eat light meals, for example, only drink millet porridge and pickles, or only eat vegetables and fruits for a day or two, and no meat. Eating less fish and meat for a day or two will not have any effect on you and your baby. You can also reduce the amount of staple food appropriately. For example, if you usually eat 2 taels of rice in one meal, then you can leave a small spoonful of it uneaten during the meal.

The above is the answer to what to do if a pregnant woman has a cold. I hope you will recover soon. During the illness, you should pay more attention to your diet, use medications with caution, avoid eating spicy foods, and maintain a happy mood, which will help the baby's growth. You can drink some Isatis root, but don’t take any medicine randomly, otherwise it will be bad for your health. Hope you get well soon.
