What are the dangers of milk cyst?

When women are breastfeeding, milk congestion and milk retention may cause breast cysts. When cysts appear, most people will be very nervous and afraid of malignant tumors. This is especially true when breastfeeding women develop milk cysts, which can sometimes even be misdiagnosed as breast cancer. So, what are the symptoms of milk cysts and what are the dangers?

Galactocele, also known as milk retention cyst or milk stasis, is a benign disease in pregnant and lactating women. During the lactation period, a lobule or duct of the breast is blocked for some reason, resulting in poor milk discharge. The milk is retained in the duct, causing it to expand and form a cyst, which manifests as a lump in the breast. It is often mistaken for a benign breast tumor (breast fibroadenoma) and may occasionally be misdiagnosed as a malignant breast tumor.

Causes:

There are many causes of milk cysts, and the main reason is the inability to discharge milk accumulation.

Symptoms and hazards:

1. Pain

Most patients experience mild distension and pain, and if accompanied by secondary infection, local skin redness and tenderness may occur. The ipsilateral axillary lymph nodes are often enlarged and tender.

2. Lump

The breast mass is round, smooth and movable, cystic, with clear boundaries and no tenderness, and is mostly 2 to 5 cm in diameter. It will shrink on its own after you stop breastfeeding or after massage. Large lumps feel cystic and elastic to the touch. When the contents of the cyst become thicker, the elasticity disappears, the hardness increases and becomes more solid, which can easily be misdiagnosed as breast cancer.

harm:

Women with dense, firm breasts are more susceptible to breast cancer. In addition, abnormal breast enlargement during adolescence, excessive breast touching during adolescence, or breast plastic surgery by filling the breasts with inappropriate substances to maintain fullness and beautiful appearance are also causes of breast cancer. Women with fibrocystic fibrosis have a 2 to 4 times higher chance of developing breast cancer than normal people, and may also suffer from breast pain.

Because milk is retained in the mammary gland, lumps will appear in the breast, and there will also be symptoms of pain, so people are often very scared, but it is actually a malignant breast tumor. In fact, the condition is still relatively mild at this time, but attention should be paid to treatment, because if the condition develops further, it may become malignant and develop into breast cancer.
