What is bacterial vaginosis?

It is very common for women to suffer from gynecological diseases such as vaginitis. Most of them will happen to married women, especially after they have sex. At this time, without the protection of the hymen, bacteria will be produced in the vagina. If it is not cleaned in time, it will cause bacteria to grow. For example, what is bacterial vaginitis? What should we pay attention to in daily life?

What is bacterial vaginitis in women? Vaginitis is a common type of gynecological inflammation. There are many types of vaginitis clinically, mainly candidal vaginitis, bacterial vaginitis and Trichomonas vaginitis, etc. The most common one is bacterial vaginitis.

Bacterial vaginosis is the most common vaginal infection in women of childbearing age, accounting for 40%-50% of vulvar and vaginal infections. This disease has had many names, such as nonspecific vaginitis (mycoplasma, chlamydia infection), Haemophilus vaginitis, anaerobic coli vaginitis, etc. It was not until recent years that the name bacterial vaginosis was uniformly used. The so-called "bacterial" means that the disease involves the growth of a large number of anaerobic and aerobic bacteria, with anaerobic bacteria being the main component; the so-called "vaginal disease" means that the symptoms are mainly increased leucorrhea, with no obvious local inflammation, and most patients have no discomfort symptoms.

Gynecological inflammation is more common in married women. Unlike common gynecological cervical diseases, uterine fibroids or cervical erosion are common in married women. Generally speaking, normal women of childbearing age will experience vaginal epithelial cell hyperplasia under the influence of endocrine hormones.

Moreover, the whole body is in a state of balance. When vaginal epithelial bacterial hyperplasia occurs, the surface cells are rich in glycogen, which is very conducive to the growth of facultative aerobic lactobacilli, which account for more than 90% of the vagina. The presence of a large amount of this lactic acid bacteria inhibits the growth of other pathogenic bacteria. A normal ecological balance is formed in the vagina

In the above article, we learned what bacterial vaginitis is. First of all, bacterial vaginitis will be accompanied by cervical erosion and even uterine disease. Early detection and timely treatment are necessary to avoid recurrence of the disease and harmful consequences.
