Reasons for light menstrual flow after abortion

Reasons for light menstrual flow after abortion

Nowadays, more and more women are having abortions in various places. As the living standards of the heart improve, people's awareness of self-protection is getting lower and lower. Many women don't know that abortion can cause great harm to women. If there are too many abortions, it is very likely to have a serious impact on women's fertility. Many women will feel that their menstrual flow begins to decrease after abortion. So what is the reason for this phenomenon?

After a pregnant woman has undergone an abortion and her body has recovered for a certain period of time, her menstruation will continue to come. However, many women who have undergone abortions experience various abnormal conditions when their menstruation continues, such as excessive or insufficient menstrual flow, dark color, dysmenorrhea, etc. The reasons for less menstrual flow after abortion are as follows:

1. Incomplete curettage leads to amenorrhea or reduced menstruation. The menstrual volume after abortion is small. In a few cases, amenorrhea or reduced menstruation occurs due to incomplete curettage and residual placenta and other tissues. Normal menstruation can be restored after another curettage.

2. The endometrium is damaged and adhesion occurs during abortion and curettage. The menstrual volume is small after abortion, the menstruation is abnormal after abortion, the cervical endometrium or endometrium is damaged during abortion and curettage, and adhesion occurs after the operation. If the cervical canal is adhered, menstrual blood will be difficult to discharge, and these patients often have cyclical abdominal pain once a month. For example, if the uterus has adhesions, the symptoms may vary depending on the degree. A large adhesion range may cause amenorrhea, while a small adhesion range may reduce menstruation.

3. Abnormal hormone secretion or anovulation. Small menstrual volume after abortion is usually related to endocrine disorders, such as abnormal secretion of various hormones or anovulation. In addition, it may be due to the endometrium itself, such as endometrial tuberculosis causing endometrial lesions or abortion or curettage causing thin endometrium, etc.

4. Endometrial defect. Excessive curettage or repeated abortions can cause repeated damage to the endometrium, resulting in defects in the entire endometrium or white scars, and the loss of menstruation formed by periodic endometrial exfoliation.

5. Menstrual disorders. After an abortion, the ovaries can generally resume ovulation function within 22 days, and menstruation will occur in about 1 month. However, a small number of women experience menstrual disorders such as prolonged menstruation, amenorrhea, and irregular cycles after abortion. This condition usually returns to normal after 2-3 months.

6. Luteal insufficiency. Luteal insufficiency, some patients have endocrine abnormalities such as premature ovarian failure, hypothalamic amenorrhea and hyperprolactinemia or ovarian anovulation.

7. Multiple abortions or rough abortions. Repeated abortions or rough surgeries can damage the basal layer of the uterus or cause intrauterine adhesions, which can cause oligomenorrhea. Postpartum hemorrhage sometimes first manifests as oligomenorrhea and then amenorrhea.

The above is the reason for the small amount of menstrual flow after abortion. After knowing this reason, we must take timely control to prevent it. When this symptom begins to occur, we must remember to take protective measures for ourselves to avoid such a phenomenon from happening again, otherwise the harm to the body will become greater and greater. If there is no childbearing, then the harm to a woman will be great.
