Understanding Seborrheic Dermatitis of the Scalp in Women

In everyone's eyes, when it comes to women, they often think they are very "troublesome". Because they are responsible for tasks such as childbirth and menstruation, the pain they experience is something that men cannot understand. In daily life, there is a disease called female scalp seborrheic dermatitis, which is still unfamiliar to most people. But some people still suffer from this disease. Next, we will begin to introduce seborrheic dermatitis of the female scalp. Let us have a preliminary understanding of seborrheic dermatitis of the female scalp.

Seborrheic dermatitis is also known as seborrheic alopecia. Hair loss often occurs after seborrheic dermatitis, usually starting from the top of the head. The initial symptom of dermatitis is skin inflammation centered on the hair follicle opening, which manifests as small papules and gradually expands to form moist, oily, scaly patches with clear boundaries. In severe cases, the entire scalp may be covered with dirty scabs. There is also a drier type with grayish white bran-like scales all over the head - dandruff. The former is called moist seborrheic dermatitis, and the latter is called dry seborrheic dermatitis. Both are itchy and can cause hair to fall out. The pathogens that cause dermatitis are fungi. Fungal seborrheic dermatitis is first caused by excessive sebum secretion, which allows fungi to invade the skin and cause chronic inflammation; this in turn causes a series of follicular inflammatory reactions, which disrupts the growth, development, and metabolism of hair, and the hair falls out sparsely. Seborrheic dermatitis varies clinically, with some cases progressing slowly and recurring. Some may be confined to the head. Some are distributed in other parts of the body or throughout the body, and can cause erythroderma, folliculitis, furuncle, lymphadenitis, etc. due to itching and scratching. Improper handling may also cause contact dermatitis or eczema-like changes.

The above briefly introduces the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis on the female scalp, giving us the most basic understanding of this symptom. In fact, this symptom cannot be said to be a very serious disease, but when we encounter problems, we should treat and solve them in time. Female scalp seborrheic dermatitis, as a new disease, should attract enough attention.
