Is coffee-colored vaginal discharge normal?

Is coffee-colored vaginal discharge normal?

Women will have secretions discharged from the vagina. Normally there will be a little bit, but it is not obvious and usually cannot be seen. However, it is more obvious when leucorrhea is discharged. Vaginal discharge, or secretions, are generally milky white. If you get a sore throat, they may appear light yellow. These discharges are vaginal secretions and are normal, so don't worry. If the vaginal discharge is brown, is it normal? Will it harm your health?

There are three possible causes of coffee-colored vaginal discharge:

1. Ovulation bleeding.

Ovulation bleeding usually occurs in the middle of two menstrual cycles, and the vaginal bleeding or brown discharge caused by it usually lasts for 2 to 3 days. If non-menstrual discharge of this color occurs regularly in the middle of the menstrual cycle, then the possibility of ovulation bleeding should be considered.

2. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding, the full name is dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

Uterine bleeding is characterized by irregular menstrual cycles and changes in the amount and nature of bleeding. If non-menstrual brown discharge is accompanied by menstrual disorders, the possibility of functional uterine bleeding should be considered.

3. Bleeding caused by other factors.

Excessive stress in life, excessive physical fatigue, chronic cervicitis such as cervical erosion and cervical polyps can also cause black or brown discharge from the vagina.

Under normal circumstances, it is normal to have brown vaginal discharge before menstruation and in the first 1 or 2 days after menstruation. However, brown discharge before menstruation is caused by the shedding of a small amount of endometrium. In a few cases, brown discharge is caused by luteal insufficiency.

If a female friend does not have symptoms such as abdominal pain, yellow leucorrhea, odor or vulvar itching, she can continue to observe and does not need to worry too much. Usually you can use warm water to clean the vulva, keep the area dry and hygienic to prevent infection. If this symptom occurs frequently, you should go to the hospital for a check-up to understand your endocrine condition.

Through the above introduction, we know that normal vaginal secretions are colorless or milky white. If they are brown or other abnormal colors, you must go to a regular hospital for examination and targeted treatment in time. It should be noted that during the treatment, women should also pay attention to their diet and avoid eating spicy and irritating foods, which will also affect vaginal health.
