What is pesticide poisoning? What are the symptoms? How to rescue?

Pesticide poisoning refers to poisoning caused by contact with pesticides or inhalation of pesticides exceeding a certain dose. Common pesticides generally affect human health, and excessive inhalation can cause poisoning. Pesticide poisoning occurs through multiple channels. In addition to oral administration, pesticides can also enter the human body through skin contact or through respiratory airflow, causing poisoning. If you do not pay attention to protection during the use of pesticides, poisoning incidents may occur. Due to the different types of pesticides, the toxicity varies greatly, and the symptoms and first aid methods of the poisoned are also very different, so you must pay attention to different treatments to avoid delaying the first aid opportunity.

⑴ Symptoms and first aid methods of organophosphorus pesticide poisoning. Organophosphorus pesticides are currently widely used and are the most likely to cause poisoning, such as methyl 1605, 3911, monocrotophos, omethoate, dichlorvos, methyl parathion, etc. The characteristics of poisoning are rapid onset and often rapid deterioration. Those with mild poisoning will show dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, sweating, chest tightness and weakness, and blurred vision. Severe cases will also show symptoms such as pupil constriction, severe breathing difficulties, pulmonary edema, obvious muscle fasciculations, incontinence, and coma. Once the above symptoms are found, the poisoned person should be taken to a cool and ventilated place immediately, the contaminated clothes should be taken off, and the whole body or the parts in contact with the agent should be washed with clean water. Take 2 to 3 tablets of atropine orally. In severe cases, it can be taken together with pralidoxime, and immediately sent to the hospital for emergency treatment. Note that the poisoned person cannot be scrubbed with hot water, and the person poisoned by trichlorfon cannot be wiped with alkaline water or soapy water to avoid aggravating the poisoning.

⑵ Symptoms and first aid methods of carbamate pesticide poisoning. Common pesticides of this type include furadan, aldicarb, and methomyl. Poisoned people often show symptoms such as headache, nausea and vomiting, sweating, pale face, rapid pulse, dilated pupils, unconsciousness, bronchial constriction, etc. In this case, the poisoned person should be taken away from the drug application site immediately, the contaminated clothes should be taken off, and the whole body or the parts in contact with the drug should be washed with clean water. Inject 0.3-1.0 mg of atropine sulfate once intramuscularly or intravenously, and send to the hospital immediately for emergency treatment.

(3) Symptoms and first aid methods of poisoning by pyrethroid pesticides. Pyrethroids include levofloxacin, dimethoate, and kungfu. Compared with the above two types of pesticides, this type of pesticide is less toxic to humans and animals and is generally less likely to cause poisoning. If poisoning occurs, symptoms include salivation, excitement, twitching, tremors, convulsions, activity disorders, weakness, and breathing difficulties. Some varieties are highly irritating to the skin and eyes, and in severe cases, exfoliative dermatitis, mucous membrane burns, and red and swollen eyes may occur. In the event of poisoning, the area of the poisoned person's skin that has come into contact with the pesticide should be thoroughly washed with soapy water, and the area of the eyes that has come into contact with the pesticide should be rinsed with plenty of clean water. Induce vomiting if poisoning is ingested. Immediately send the person to the hospital for emergency treatment.
