Nielsen: Instagram ranked seventh among the most popular mobile apps in 2013

According to the latest data released by Nielsen, Instagram, the photo social application acquired by Facebook, has surpassed Twitter in terms of monthly login users, becoming a more popular mobile application.

Nielsen released a list of the top 10 most popular smartphone applications, with Instagram ranking seventh, with an average of about 32 million users logging in each month. Instagram was also the fastest growing application in 2013, with its users increasing by 66% over the previous year.

Meanwhile, Twitter ranked tenth with an average of 30.8 million users logging in each month.

Nielsen counts independent users who are over 18 years old on average, using iOS and Android as their smartphone platforms, and the statistical period is from January to October 2013.

According to official data, Instagram has 150 million active users, while Twitter has more than 230 million users, with the latter leading by a large margin.

Unsurprisingly, Facebook topped the list, with an average of 103.4 million people logging into the app each month across iOS and Android smartphones.
