Read It Later: Kindle Fire sales approached iPad sales in Christmas 2011

According to the latest data from the reading list management application Read It Later, the number of Amazon Kindle Fire devices that downloaded Read It Later was almost the same as the iPad during Christmas 2011. On Christmas Eve, only 5% of Kindle Fire users downloaded Read It Later, but on Christmas Day, this proportion rose to 14%.

On Boxing Day (note: the first working day after Christmas), Kindle Fire accounted for 17% of new users, second only to iPad at 19%.

Read It Later data shows that Android users are willing to pay. The app has launched a free Lite version and a $3 premium version. During the Christmas period, 46% of Read It Later's paying users came from the Android platform, of which Kindle Fire users accounted for 19%.
