Why don’t ophthalmologists perform myopia surgery?

When talking about myopia surgery , we used to hear about laser, but now we hear more often about "femtosecond" and "semi-femtosecond".

Is it true that no one is doing laser surgery now? Are they all doing femtosecond laser surgery? It is not certain. We may not be able to choose which one to do or even whether we can do it.

ps: Laser surgery is divided into full laser (commonly called laser in the past), semi-femtosecond laser and full femtosecond laser (unexpected‼️).

People who meet the requirements for both semi-femtosecond and full-femtosecond laser surgery will generally choose full-femtosecond laser surgery, which has smaller incisions and faster recovery (of course, it will be more expensive).

Half-femtosecond laser is usually chosen only when the conditions for full-femtosecond laser are not met (corneal thickness is not enough/the degree is too high).

People who intend to undergo myopia surgery should pay attention to it before surgery

1. The age for myopia surgery must be at least 18 years old;
2. Myopia has been relatively stable in the past two years, with an annual change of less than 50 degrees;
3. Stop wearing soft contact lenses for more than 1 week, hard contact lenses for more than 3 weeks, and OK lenses for more than 3 months.
