When a patient with coronary heart disease suffers a myocardial infarction, are the "three life-saving treasures" on the bedside really useful?

A friend who suffers from coronary heart disease asked Huazi, he heard that nitroglycerin tablets, quick-acting heart-saving pills, and aspirin are the "three life-saving treasures" for patients with coronary heart disease. They should be placed on the bedside and can be taken to save lives when a myocardial infarction occurs. Is this true?

Huazi said that these three drugs are used to treat heart disease, but when myocardial infarction occurs, they need to be used according to different situations. If used incorrectly, not only will they not save lives, they may also make the condition more complicated and serious.

1. Nitroglycerin Tablets Nitroglycerin tablets are drugs that patients with coronary heart disease should carry with them. When angina pectoris occurs, it can be placed under the tongue and taken to quickly dilate the coronary artery and help patients relieve angina pectoris. When myocardial infarction occurs, the use of nitroglycerin can dilate the coronary artery, increase collateral circulation blood volume, and have a protective effect on the heart.

However, when taking nitroglycerin tablets, you need to pay attention to the patient's blood pressure, because nitroglycerin will dilate blood vessels. If the patient is already in a state of hypotension, taking nitroglycerin will further lower the blood pressure, aggravate cardiac ischemia, and may induce shock.

It is recommended to measure blood pressure before taking the medicine. If the patient's blood pressure is low, the medicine cannot be taken. Only those with normal blood pressure can take it. If it is not convenient to measure blood pressure, you can observe the patient. If the patient is pale, sweating, or has a weak pulse, it is likely that the blood pressure is low and it is not recommended to take the medicine.

Nitroglycerin tablets have a short duration of action and work by stimulating nitric oxide (NO) receptors in blood vessels, but continuous use will quickly deplete the receptors, leading to rapid tolerance. In other words, after continuous use, the efficacy of nitroglycerin will gradually decrease and disappear, so it is only used as an emergency drug for angina attacks, and cannot be used as a daily medication.

2. Suxiao Jiuxin Pills Suxiao Jiuxin Pills are a well-known Chinese patent medicine, the main ingredients of which are Chuanxiong and borneol. The main effect is to increase coronary blood flow and relieve the symptoms of angina pectoris. There is no tolerance when taking the medicine. Suxiao Jiuxin Pills can be used for acute attacks of angina pectoris, and can also be used for daily treatment of coronary heart disease.

However, it should be noted that the "Precautions" of the Quick-Acting Heart-Saving Pills state that "During the treatment, if angina pectoris persists, it is advisable to add nitrate drugs." In other words, the Quick-Acting Heart-Saving Pills cannot replace the effects of nitroglycerin. It can be used for angina pectoris and myocardial infarction, but its effect is weaker than nitroglycerin.

3. Aspirin Aspirin is a drug that is familiar to everyone and can inhibit platelet aggregation. The mechanism of myocardial infarction is that the atherosclerotic plaque in the coronary artery ruptures, and the ruptured surface induces platelet aggregation, which then forms a thrombus and blocks the blood vessel, so aspirin can be used to rescue acute myocardial infarction.

However, the use of aspirin requires a prerequisite, that is, a clear diagnosis must be made to confirm that myocardial infarction has occurred. If aortic dissection occurs, the symptoms are similar to myocardial infarction, but taking aspirin will make the condition worse. And before taking the medicine, make sure that the blood pressure is normal and not too high, otherwise taking aspirin will increase the risk of cerebral hemorrhage.

Therefore, it is recommended to wait for the emergency doctor to arrive at the scene, and after a clear diagnosis and exclusion of contraindications, take aspirin under the guidance of a doctor. It is not recommended to take it on your own.

To sum up, Quick-acting Heart-saving Pills can be taken daily and can also be used for acute attacks of angina pectoris and myocardial infarction, but the effect is weaker. Nitroglycerin tablets cannot be taken daily and are only used for acute attacks of angina pectoris and myocardial infarction. However, when myocardial infarction occurs, it cannot be taken if the blood pressure is too low. Aspirin can be used to treat myocardial infarction, but a clear diagnosis is required and it cannot be taken if the blood pressure is too high. Drugs should be used under the guidance of a doctor.
