Why are the tips of Molan leaves turning black? How to solve the problem?

As people's quality of life improves, more and more people are raising flowers and plants at home, and black orchid is deeply loved by people because of its fragrant flowers. So what is the reason for the black tips of black orchid leaves? How to deal with the dry and curled black orchid leaves? The following editor will explain them one by one, hoping to help you.

Why do the tips of black orchid leaves turn black?

1. Overwatering

When you water orchids too much, the soil in the pot is too wet, the oxygen supply to the roots is insufficient, and it is difficult for nutrients and water to be transported to the leaf tips farthest from the roots, which will cause the leaf tips to dry up. If the soil in the pot is too wet for a long time, it will cause root rot, and the leaves will show: the black tips will expand, the leaves will turn yellow, and many black spots will appear on the leaves, and eventually the leaves will wither and die.

2. Too little watering

If you water orchids too little or irregularly for a long time, the soil will become too dry, the capillary roots will not absorb enough water, and the leaf tips farthest from the roots will become malnourished and turn black. Unlike overwatering, underwatering will cause the tips to dry out, and the orchid leaves will not be very green, but will turn yellow.

3. Too much light

Orchids in the wild grow in mountain streams, creeks, and woods, so they are not resistant to sunlight. In summer, the sun is very strong, so orchids should be placed in semi-shaded or diffused light areas for maintenance. If the light is too strong, the water on the leaves will evaporate quickly, and the leaf tips will lose water and turn black. Over time, the old leaves below will gradually dry up.

4. Fertilizing too frequently

Fertilize orchids thinly and frequently. When the fertilizer is excessive or the concentration is too high, the roots absorb the fertilizer and transport it all the way to the leaf tips, where it will be discarded. The leaf tips cannot bear so much fertilizer and will be burned. The blackened leaf tips caused by fertilizer damage occur on old leaves, while new leaves grow normally. When the fertilizer concentration is too high, the old leaves will dry up all the way up, and eventually the entire orchid will die. When the temperature is relatively high in summer, it is recommended not to fertilize orchids, and wait until the weather is cooler before fertilizing.

How to solve the problem of black tips of Mo Lan leaves

If the black tip of the Mo Lan leaf is not caused by too strong light or too concentrated fertilizer, it may be caused by overwatering. If there are many black leaves, most of them are root rot. Pay attention to observe whether the black part spreads and becomes larger, and whether the healthy leaves also begin to turn black. If so, you can only remove the pot, trim the roots and change the soil.

Why did the buds of the black orchid disappear after one month?

1. The temperature is too high

When the temperature is too high during the bud formation stage of Mo Lan, it promotes the growth of root buds, which rob the flower buds of nutrients.

2. Overwatering

The soil in the pot is too wet, which causes problems with root growth and prevents the plant from absorbing enough nutrients.

3. Improper fertilization

Nitrogen fertilizer cannot be applied during the bud formation period.

4. Insufficient light

The leaves lack sunlight and cannot convert the fertilizer in the soil into growth nutrients.

5. Humidity is too low

The suitable humidity for Molan is between 60-80%. If it is in a greenhouse, it needs to be sprayed with water frequently. It should not be placed near the radiator, as it will easily damage the leaves and flower stems.
