Is compound fertilizer effective for Molan?

Although Mo Lan's growth cannot be separated from fertilizer, we still need to pay attention to the concentration of the fertilizer when using it, and at the same time pay attention to reducing the number of uses. Generally, a small amount of compound fertilizer is sufficient every 20 days.

What kind of planting material is better for growing Molan

Pine bark is a good planting material, especially the decomposed pine bark, which has better moisture retention than most planting materials. Watering it once can last for almost a month. Since the pine bark planting material is soft and breathable, the orchid roots will grow very well. However, it takes a long time for the pine bark to decompose naturally, usually more than 3 years.

Therefore, many people now use high-temperature steaming and then use biological bacteria to speed up the compost fermentation. The moisture retention of this pine bark is slightly worse. You can add some peat and some hard granular planting materials to increase the air permeability and softness. In addition, using pure decomposed pine bark is also very expensive, and orchid gardens that grow a large number of orchids generally do not choose this.

How to grow black orchid

1. Water management

Mo Lan has a well-developed root system and a large demand for water. This is because Mo Lan generally has long, wide and thick leaves, strong photosynthesis and water metabolism capabilities, and the native species of Mo Lan grow in tropical or subtropical jungles with high temperature and humidity. It is genetically genetically predisposed to like water and humidity. Therefore, in the daily water management of Mo Lan cultivation, it is recommended to manage with large amounts of water. Of course, the premise of large amounts of water management is to have a ventilated environment. The specific management method can refer to the granular material cultivation method, that is, irrigate the roots with large amounts of water once a week. The total time for each watering is about 5 minutes, and the watering is completed in 2-3 times, with a ten-minute interval in between. The purpose of the interval is to ensure that the planting material is fully immersed in water and the excess inorganic salts in the planting material are fully dissolved in water and then discharged.

2. Planting material management

It is recommended to use a combination of soft and hard granular planting materials to cultivate Mo Lan, with hard planting materials accounting for 60% and soft planting materials accounting for 40%. Hard planting materials can include golden stone, black fairy soil, volcanic stone, pumice, and soft planting materials can include fermented pine scales, fermented snake wood, fermented oak bark, etc. Hard planting materials ensure hydrophobicity, and soft planting materials provide more nutrients. The size of planting material particles decreases from bottom to top. Compared with the broad leaves of Mo Lan, the pseudobulb is not large. Therefore, there is no need to cover the pseudobulb with planting material. It is generally better to expose part of it.

3. Sunshine Management

Among many orchid varieties, Mo Lan is a variety that requires less sunlight and is a shade-loving plant. Therefore, it only needs to be exposed to about 2 hours of light a day. Most of the time, Mo Lan prefers an environment without direct sunlight.

4. Temperature management

Mo Lan is a subtropical plant and is mostly cultivated in Guangdong Province of my country. It is sensitive to both high and low temperatures and is not cold-resistant. It will enter a dormant period when the temperature is below 10℃. When the temperature is above 28℃, the chance of orchid getting sick is more than 5 times higher. The more suitable growth temperature is 15-25℃. If you want to grow Mo Lan well, you must try to find an environment that is warm in winter and cool in summer.
