What happens if the car's piston oil ring breaks? How does the car react if the piston ring breaks?

The piston ring is a small part of the car, made of metal, divided into compression ring and oil ring. The compression ring seals the combustible mixture, and the oil ring is used to scrape the oil on the cylinder. Although it is inconspicuous, if the piston ring is damaged, it will also affect the car.

What happens if the car piston oil ring breaks?

Piston ring damage is generally manifested in broken, stuck in the ring groove, excessive wear of the piston ring leading to increased side clearance and end clearance, etc. If the piston ring is stuck or broken, the engine is noisy, especially when the engine is cold, we can hear not only the crisp valve clicking sound, but also the sound is irregular.

Generally speaking, piston ring damage is related to the piston. If the ring is damaged, the piston will probably be damaged, and the cylinder liner will also be worn or even grooved. Therefore, when the piston ring is damaged, it is generally replaced together with the piston, and even the cylinder needs to be bored or replaced. Because the piston ring groove will definitely wear, the piston ring side clearance will increase, and the end clearance will also increase.

There are many reasons for the failure of piston rings. For example, high temperature is the culprit; the quality of lubricating oil, or long-term failure to change; the air filter residue entering the cylinder; the long age of the vehicle, natural wear and tear, etc.

What happens if the piston ring is broken?

Automobile pistons have three rings, two gas rings and one oil ring. The gas rings are mainly used for sealing to ensure cylinder pressure. The oil ring is generally composed of two steel sheets and a spring.

Since the cylinder liner needs to be lubricated, the crankshaft splashes the oil onto the cylinder liner, or the nozzle sprays the oil onto the cylinder liner to achieve the purpose of lubrication. However, after the cylinder liner is lubricated, the oil cannot enter the cylinder for combustion, so the oil ring must scrape the lubricating oil into the oil pan to ensure that the oil does not enter the cylinder for combustion.

When the piston ring is broken. Eliminate the cause of the carbon canister (diesel engine breather) being blocked. When the engine exhaust is serious, when the oil dipstick is pulled out, there is obvious gas spraying (except the cylinder gasket), this should be caused by excessive wear of the gas ring or piston.

In addition, the engine fuel consumption increases and acceleration is not smooth. You can use a cylinder pressure gauge to check the cylinder pressure. If the cylinder pressure of a gas engine is much lower than 8 and that of a diesel engine is much lower than 12, this is generally due to poor valve closure and wear of the piston and rings.

Exhaust pipe, a lot of blue smoke is discharged, and the engine oil is obviously consumed. Generally, the engine oil consumption is greater than 3-5L/10,000 kilometers, which means that the oil is burned. This situation indicates that the oil ring is worn too much or the high temperature causes it to lose elasticity and cannot achieve the sealing effect.

Is there anything wrong with the engine piston ring?

There is anyway.

The piston usually has three to four rings and one oil ring, and the rest are air rings. The top one is chrome-plated, and the bottom one is the oil ring. The oil ring usually consists of three pieces, two thin pieces on the top and bottom, and a spring-like curved piece in the middle. The air ring has a guide angle, with the inner guide pointing upwards and the outer guide pointing downwards, and the ring mouths must be installed staggered.
