What does the high-cold test of automobiles test? Why do automobiles need high-cold tests?

Cars undergo a variety of rigorous tests from production to delivery to ensure the safety and comfort of the vehicle and to avoid major accidents caused by vehicle configuration problems. In addition to testing components in the factory, new cars will also be put on the road for road tests and high-cold tests, which are very critical for new cars to be launched. So what does the high-cold test of cars test?

What does the high-cold test of automobiles measure?

High-cold test is one of the three high tests for automobiles. The other two are high-temperature and plateau tests. They are designed to test the reliability, safety and adaptability of the vehicle.

The main purpose is to test the performance of the vehicle in extreme environments and conditions, which is very important. Just imagine, you get up in the morning in the northeast at -30 degrees Celsius, and find that the car won't start. How depressed that is.

Ensuring the stability and reliability of the vehicle in extreme environments is related to our safety. The three high tests must be carried out.

Why do cars need high-cold tests?

The reason why cars need to be tested in high-cold conditions is that cars are not only sold in areas with high temperatures, but people in cold areas also need to drive. Every car will undergo a lot of testing before it goes on sale, with the aim of proactively identifying problems and correcting them.

The high-cold test is also a very important part, which mainly tests whether the vehicle can operate normally in extreme cold weather conditions, whether there are safety hazards, whether the vehicle's durability meets the standards, and whether the performance has declined. If problems are found, they can be modified in advance. If these vehicles are not tested in high-cold areas, once problems occur, they may be fatal.

What are the inspections before the car leaves the factory?

Before leaving the factory, the car generally undergoes the following three inspections:

@ Appearance inspection: responsible for checking the car paint, assembly surface difference, interior decoration, etc.

@Testing line: responsible for testing of four-wheel alignment, exhaust, lighting, speed, fuel consumption and other indicators.

@Road test: As the name suggests, the road test involves driving the vehicle on a special road section for inspection. The cobblestone road and rough asphalt road are used to check the vehicle's low-level noise and abnormal sound. The turntable is used to check the vehicle's steering performance. The 100-meter running deviation test is used to test the vehicle's straightness. The emergency braking area is the most interesting, where the car is driven to 60 kilometers per hour and the brake pedal is stepped on. The ABS is activated to test the braking effectiveness. The twisted road is used to test whether there are abnormal noises from the trunk sheet metal and the instrument panel. The horseshoe road is used to test chassis abnormalities. The entire road test takes about 10 minutes, including static inspection of electronic equipment such as air conditioning and anti-theft.

Recently, photos of Chery New Energy S61's winter high-cold test were exposed. From January to February 2020, the S61 test team went to Heihe, Heilongjiang, known as the "border of China", to conduct the first high-cold test in an extremely cold environment of -35°. The high-cold test is one of Chery New Energy's "three high tests" for the S61 vehicle. The specific tests include the durability of the S61 in ultra-low temperature environments, power system calibration and other projects, and examine the performance of major systems such as vehicle endurance, charging and discharging efficiency, off-road control, and thermal management.
