Why did the spider plant wilt after repotting? What should I do if the leaves of the spider plant wilt after repotting?

As people's quality of life improves, more and more people like to grow some flowers and plants at home, especially spider plants, which are deeply loved by people. However, when growing peonies, many people have the problem of wilting leaves. So why do spider plants wilt after repotting? What should I do if the leaves of spider plants wilt after repotting? Let's take a look.

Why did the spider plant wilt after changing the pot?

1. Root damage

No matter how careful you are when repotting, even if you keep the original soil, the capillary roots of the spider plant will be damaged, resulting in a weakened ability to absorb water and nutrients. If nutrients and water cannot be delivered to the leaves in time, the leaves will wilt and become soft, showing symptoms of water shortage.

2. Environmental changes

When you repot a spider plant, the macro-environment does not change, but the micro-environment has changed. For example, the previous pot is small, but now it is a large one; the previous nutrient soil is humus soil, etc. These changes seem insignificant to us, but they are big changes for the spider plant. Its biological clock is disrupted, everything is in a state of chaos, and the leaves will wilt.

What to do if the leaves wilt after repotting the spider plant

1. Avoid exposure to the sun

The water delivered to the leaves of the spider plant is insufficient after the pot is changed, so we need to reduce water evaporation and keep the spider plant in a cool and ventilated place, but not in direct sunlight. If the leaves are exposed to the sun right after the pot is changed, the water loss of the leaves will be more serious, which will directly cause the leaves to dry and turn yellow, and there will be no possibility of recovery.

2. Provide more ventilation

More ventilation is beneficial for the recovery of the spider plant and stabilizing its biological clock as soon as possible. This is because ventilation can provide sufficient oxygen in the microenvironment where the spider plant is located, allowing it to breathe better, promote root growth, make up for the deficiency caused by repotting, and deliver water and nutrients to the leaves as soon as possible.

3. Foliar spray

When the leaves of the spider plant wilt after repotting, spray some water mist on the leaves and around them, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. If you have time, spray 3 to 5 times a day at the beginning, and gradually reduce the number of spraying after three days. The leaves of the spider plant will regain vitality. When the root system of the spider plant is damaged, the more water you water, the more damage it will cause to the roots, which is not very useful in alleviating the wilting of the spider plant leaves. Foliar spray can directly replenish water, reduce the burden on the roots, and help restore them to normal.

4. Don’t fertilize

When the spider plant is in poor condition, do not fertilize it. Fertilization will make the situation worse and may even kill the entire spider plant. During the warm-up period, just water it and do not use anything else.

How to divide the pots of Chlorophytum

You can use the root system to divide the pot, or you can use the branches to divide the pot. Using the root system to divide the pot is more troublesome, you have to turn the flower pot over and separate the flower roots one by one and put them in the pot. Differentiated branches are more convenient, usually with aerial roots on them, and can be planted directly in the pot, or you can run them in water first, wait for their roots to grow long, and then plant them in the pot.
