What are the symptoms of poor uterine recovery after cesarean section?

Pregnancy and childbirth are very difficult for women. Now many women choose caesarean section. Although there is no pain during caesarean section, women will suffer a lot afterwards. After caesarean section, women must not only take good care of themselves after the confinement period, but also take good care of themselves in the days that follow, otherwise it will affect the recovery of the uterus. Let's take a look at the symptoms of poor uterine recovery after caesarean section.

Common symptoms of poor uterine recovery after cesarean section:

1. The placenta or fetal membranes remain in the uterine cavity

If the placenta or fetal membranes are not completely separated after delivery, and part of them remain in the uterus, it will affect the speed of uterine recovery and cause continuous bleeding, sometimes heavy bleeding.

2. Combined with endometritis or pelvic inflammation

New mothers are weak after giving birth, and the cervix has not yet closed well after dilation. At this time, the bacteria in the vagina and cervix may ascend to infect the pelvic cavity; if there are still placenta and fetal membranes remaining in the uterine cavity, the chance of infection will increase. If improper care is given after delivery, it may cause uterine or pelvic infection and long-term bleeding.

3. Excessive retroversion of the uterus

Due to congenital hypoplasia of the uterus, or multiple abortions and poor postpartum care, the uterus can easily tip backwards. If the uterus is excessively retroflexed, it will make it difficult to discharge postpartum lochia, affecting the recovery of the uterus.

4. Difficulty urinating after childbirth

Some women who had a natural birth had an episiotomy and are afraid of causing pain in the wound when urinating; some women who had a caesarean section are afraid to walk around to urinate, which causes the bladder to be overfilled and the uterus to be unable to descend into the pelvic cavity.

After the long 40 weeks of pregnancy, the uterus expands from the size of a fist (about 50 grams) to this size (about 1000 grams), which is almost 20 times larger than its original size. After the baby is born, it is like a deflated ball and it takes about 42 days to return to its pre-pregnancy state. Only by understanding the causes and symptoms of poor uterine recovery can new mothers take better countermeasures and protect our uterus in all aspects.
