How much does a subdermal contraceptive implant cost?

Subcutaneous contraceptive implant is a new contraceptive method that has been marketed and applied worldwide. This type of contraceptive method is to put a certain amount of estrogen into a silicone capsule tube, and then bury the tube under the skin to slowly release a small amount of estrogen, thereby playing a contraceptive role. Subcutaneous contraceptive implants were introduced in my country in 1984 and were first used in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Shenyang. Currently, 15 provinces in the country have established subcutaneous implant clinical trial centers to carry out subcutaneous contraceptive implant surgery. According to statistical analysis of relevant materials, the pregnancy rate within 2 years is only 0.1%, and the pregnancy rate within 3 years is 0.24%.

Subcutaneous contraceptive implants achieve their contraceptive purposes by changing the viscosity of cervical mucus, blocking sperm from entering the uterus; inhibiting the growth of the uterine wall, which is not conducive to embryo implantation; and inhibiting ovulation.

How much does the subcutaneous contraceptive implant method cost? Let us find out below.

The subcutaneous contraceptive implant method uses a special cannula needle to send 6 silicone capsules into the subcutaneous tissue (arranged in a fan shape) through the wound. The surgery is over and the wound does not need to be sutured. The entire surgical operation can be performed within a few minutes. Subcutaneous contraceptive implants are not for sale. Only the subcutaneous implant contraceptives used by family planning companies for subcutaneous implant surgery are available in general hospitals and maternal and child health hospitals. The prices in hospitals of different levels will also be different; in addition, subcutaneous implant contraceptives have different specifications, with different specifications of preparations for 1-7 years, depending on the price and preparation specifications you choose. But the price is not high, generally around 300-500 yuan.

During the period of subcutaneous implant contraception, if amenorrhea, irregular vaginal bleeding, and lower abdominal pain occur, you should see a doctor immediately to check whether you are pregnant. But most women have a good bleeding pattern. In clinical trial evaluations, more than half of the women reported high bleeding, which was defined as bleeding and spotting more than 5 times during a three-month reference period. When non-menstrual bleeding occurs and after the doctor's examination, it is confirmed that the subcutaneous implant is not suitable, the use of the implant should be stopped, but the chance is small. In fact, one possible adverse reaction of all growth hormone contraceptive methods is non-menstrual bleeding.
