How do you know you are pregnant with twins?

When a female friend enters the pregnancy stage, she can use pregnancy test strips and the hcg content in the blood to determine whether she is pregnant in the early stage. At three months, she can use B-ultrasound to check. At this time, B-ultrasound can check whether it is twins or a single baby, and can also check the development of the fetus in the uterus. We want to check whether we are pregnant with twins, so we should go to the hospital for examination.

How to know if you are pregnant with twins

Generally speaking, expectant mothers can do an ultrasound 45 days after pregnancy to detect whether they are pregnant with twins. Ultrasound examination can show two gestational sacs as early as 7-8 weeks of pregnancy. After 13 weeks, the two fetal head halos can be clearly shown, and their corresponding spine, trunk, limbs, etc. can be seen. During the development of the fetus, a large amount of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is produced in the expectant mother's body.

The HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) value of a mother who is pregnant with twins is much higher than that of a mother who is pregnant with a single baby. The abdomen of an expectant mother who is pregnant with twins is larger than that of an expectant mother who is pregnant with single babies, and the growth rate is obvious. Among the early symptoms of being pregnant with twins, the expectant mother's abdomen will become more obvious after 4 months of pregnancy.

Expectant mothers should pay more attention after pregnancy. Regular check-ups are not only responsible for the fetus, but also for their own health.

The ultrasound examinations your doctor will perform include:

Chorionic villus scan: Women need to undergo a chorionic villus scan between 12 and 14 weeks of pregnancy. We need to identify whether the twins use one placenta or separate placentas.

Nuchal translucency scan: If Down syndrome screening is required, a nuchal translucency scan will generally be done before 14 weeks. If you are pregnant with twins, blood tests done around 20 weeks of pregnancy are not very accurate.

Developmental ultrasound scan: In the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, doctors will also ask such pregnant women to do ultrasound scans so that we can determine whether the baby is developing normally. Because the measurement of uterine height for monitoring the development of one baby is not suitable for two babies. If a placenta is shared, we will need to do an ultrasound scan every 2 to 4 weeks, and everyone must go to the hospital on time.

Generally, we can find out whether the baby is twins around eight weeks of pregnancy, and we can clearly see the baby's torso and limbs around 13 weeks. After discovering that they are pregnant with twins, most female friends will be ecstatic, but everyone must also remember that being pregnant with twins is much more dangerous than a single baby, so everyone must cooperate with the doctor to do a good job of examination.
