The fastest way to treat breast lumps

The fastest way to treat breast lumps

Many breastfeeding women will encounter this problem, that is, milk blockage occurs when feeding the baby. Some women even develop milk knots and lumps, which is very uncomfortable. In fact, if there is too much milk during breastfeeding and the baby is full, if there is excess milk, the excess milk needs to be squeezed out in time, otherwise it will easily lead to milk blockage.

What are the two causes of milk lumps?

1. Internal blocking

Some mothers may develop cheese-like "white spots" due to greasy diet and other reasons, which may cause the inside of the mammary duct to be blocked and the milk cannot be discharged normally; some mothers secrete too much milk and the mammary duct cannot be discharged in time; some mothers will develop milk knots when they are in a bad mood or under too much pressure.

2. External pressure

For example, underwear is too tight and puts pressure on the breasts, the sling used by the mother to carry the baby is too tight, the mother always presses the breasts with her fingers when breastfeeding, and the baby's punches and kicks while feeding may also "kick" the breasts.

How to deal with milk clotting?

When dealing with milk knots, mothers only need to remember the four words "apply", "knead", "comb" and "suck". The following is a detailed introduction.

1. Towel application

When milk lumps appear, you can apply a hot towel to the lump. Wait until the temperature of the towel drops, then soak it in hot water again and wring it dry. Repeat this process. This will help enhance local blood circulation. Be careful not to set the temperature too high to avoid burning your skin. Don’t apply the hot compress for too long, about 3 to 5 minutes is enough.

Many mothers will definitely say that hot compress will aggravate edema. This is why we emphasize that the hot compress time should be short. In addition, it should be noted that milk must be discharged in time after the hot compress.

2. Kneading

Apply edible grade olive oil on your hands as a lubricant, squeeze the areola, and if there are lumps, first soften the nipple lumps, and then slowly drain the milk knots at the back. Gently massage the lump in a circular direction for one minute, then comb radially along the milk network from the outside of the breast to the nipple.

Use moderate force, enough to cause milk to be ejaculated without causing severe pain. You can alternate between the two techniques. The massage time should not be too long, about ten minutes on one side. Even if there is severe local blockage during the unblocking process, milk drips out and the lump cannot subside, the time must be controlled.

3. Comb

You can also use a wooden comb. A heated wooden comb is best. Comb from the armpits towards the nipples to unblock the tangled blood vessels. It is best to comb with the back of the comb. Remember not to use too much force and comb in the direction of the mammary gland. Be sure to apply some moisturizer on the breasts before combing, otherwise the skin will easily become red, swollen and injured.

4. Baby sucks

Feed your baby immediately after heat treatment and massage, and let the baby suck more. The baby is the best solution master; or use a breast pump to express milk, which can also help eliminate milk lumps.
