First time menstruation with blood clots

First time menstruation with blood clots

Girls usually don’t know much about menstruation when they have their first period, and it is normal for them to feel very painful during their first period. Because the first menstruation is a sign that the female uterus is gradually maturing, it is inevitable that there will be pain. However, some girls find that there are blood clots in their menstrual blood when they have their first menstruation. What is going on?

1. What is the reason for blood clots during the first menstrual period?

If your menstrual blood clots or the amount of blood is heavy, it may be that you have just started your period and your menstruation is irregular. You should get more rest and pay attention to your diet and nutrition. Your menstruation will gradually return to normal. If you have your period in the future, you should keep warm and avoid getting cold.

2. Causes of blood clots during menstruation

If there are blood clots during menstruation, we need to treat it specifically. Traditional Chinese medicine divides them into blood stasis, qi stagnation, and cold stagnation, which are quite clear. In Western medicine, it is low hormone levels that cause hemolysis. Blood coagulates when it encounters cold, so women should pay attention to keeping warm during menstruation. In traditional Chinese medicine, we talk about blood stasis, and in Western medicine, we talk about hemolysis caused by low hormone levels. Our menstrual blood is usually in a non-coagulated state, but if we encounter coldness or something, as we all know, blood coagulates when it encounters coldness, or what we call uterine coldness, our menstrual flow will have blood clots, and even what Western medicine calls insufficient hormone levels or progesterone levels. Failure of the endometrium to melt can also cause blood clots, which is menstrual blood. Or some people have extremely heavy bleeding, and the menstrual blood is discharged in large lumps. This is menstruation. Traditional Chinese medicine makes very clear distinctions between blood stasis, qi stagnation, and cold stagnation. The distinctions are relatively clear.

3. What to do if there are blood clots during menstruation

1. If the menstrual blood is dark red with blood clots, it is a sign of "blood stasis and qi stagnation" and you can use ingredients such as Chuanxiong, Salvia miltiorrhiza, and Safflower. If the menstrual blood is less in quantity and lighter in color, it is a sign of "blood deficiency and body weakness" and you should use angelica, astragalus, rehmannia, longan, ginseng, etc. to nourish the body. If you have a "deficient and cold" constitution with cold hands and feet, you can improve your condition by eating a warming diet with cinnamon twigs, fennel, and mugwort.

2. It is advisable to drink high-protein and low-fat foods and take more vitamins C and E to promote smooth blood circulation in the pelvis and reduce pain caused by congestion. It also supplements with rich calcium and magnesium to relax the muscles. During the first 3 days before the menstrual period, until the end of the period, the food should be warm. Eat less grilled, fried, spicy or pickled foods, and avoid watermelon, pear, coconut and grapefruit to avoid affecting blood vessel constriction.

3. Women who have a lot of blood clots during menstruation should pay attention to it and strengthen their physical exercise to improve their physical fitness. Pay attention to menstrual hygiene, avoid mental stimulation and excessive fatigue, pay attention to keeping warm before and during menstruation, and you can also apply a hot water bottle to your lower abdomen, soak your feet in hot water, etc. during menstruation.
