Can I use sanitary napkins after giving birth?

We all know that women will discharge lochia after giving birth. Lochia is just like a girl's menstruation, but the amount of lochia is much larger than menstruation. Therefore, during this period, most women will choose to wear physiological underwear, which is more convenient and will not cause bleeding. However, some women will use sanitary napkins after giving birth, but they must be of good quality. So, can sanitary napkins be used after giving birth?

Can I use ordinary sanitary napkins for postpartum lochia?

For mothers, the physiological changes that occur after delivery are more complicated than those during menstruation: within 2-4 weeks after the delivery of the fetus, mothers need to deal with a large amount of lochia; the perineum will feel pain and swelling after delivery, and if an episiotomy was performed during delivery, the wound will feel even more painful.

Postpartum mothers should choose sanitary napkins specifically for the mother. Two reasons why pregnant women need to use special sanitary napkins:

1. Using special sanitary napkins is a comfortable need: to minimize the pain of the mother

After giving birth, there are usually wounds on the vulva of the mother. Ordinary sanitary napkins are designed for ordinary women and are made of general synthetic fibers. Because they contain chemical ingredients and many impurities, they are easy to cause linting, have a large coefficient of friction, are easy to fall off, and easily generate static electricity. They can easily irritate the sensitive wounds of the mother and increase her pain. The survey found that about one week after giving birth, 50%-80% of mothers are prone to depression. One important reason for depression in mothers is that the postpartum wound is too painful.

2. Using special sanitary napkins is a health necessity: effectively avoiding maternal infection

Ordinary sanitary napkins are made of chemical fibers and contain adhesives, fluorescent brighteners and other chemical ingredients. They are not suitable for the highly sensitive skin of postpartum women and can easily cause irritation and infection. Ordinary sanitary napkins have average water absorption, are prone to side leakage and backflow, and cannot cope with the large amount of lochia after delivery. During use, the surface of the sanitary napkin is moist and stuffy, which not only makes the mother feel wet and sticky and uncomfortable, but the lochia discharged by the mother also contains nutrients that are suitable for the rapid growth of bacteria, which is extremely detrimental to the healing of the mother's wounds.

It can be seen that new mothers after childbirth must not take it lightly when choosing practical sanitary napkins after childbirth, and use sanitary napkins carelessly!
