What to do if a pregnant woman has herpes simplex virus

In daily life, people may be troubled by various diseases, especially pregnant women. Pregnant women cannot take medicine casually, as the medicine will have a certain impact on the fetus. Therefore, women must pay special attention when they are pregnant. Some women become anxious and get irritated during pregnancy, making them more susceptible to herpes simplex virus. There are two types of this virus, and different viruses cause different harm to people. Therefore, pregnant women must maintain a happy mood.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus (HSV), herpes simplex virus type 1 and herpes simplex virus type 2. 1. HSV-1 mainly causes infection of the skin, mucous membranes or organs outside the reproductive tract. The most common affected area is the lips, which is what people usually call "being anxious and getting big blisters on the mouth." After the initial infection, the virus lurks in the trigeminal ganglion and recurs when the patient's resistance is reduced, usually without affecting the baby in the belly.

2. HSV-2 mainly causes genital tract infection. In primary infection, blisters appear on the labia, vestibule, vagina, and/or cervix. After 1 to 3 days, the blisters rupture and small painful ulcers appear. Patients may experience localized burning and irritation of the vulva, dysuria, and swollen inguinal lymph nodes. Systemic symptoms are often present, including headache, fever, muscle pain, and general malaise. Large amounts of virus are expelled from the lesion, usually the cervix. Because pregnant women rarely develop viremia after infection, it is rare for the fetus to be infected through the placenta. However, once the virus ascends through the cervix to infect the fetus, it often leaves serious central nervous system sequelae. My mother was infected with herpes simplex virus type 1, and the prenatal examination showed that the fetus was healthy. It is best not to breastfeed the baby after it is born to prevent the disease from being transmitted to the baby through breast milk.

3. Herpes simplex virus positivity can cause malformations, developmental abnormalities, spontaneous abortion, and fetal growth retardation. However, some are not serious and you need to do prenatal checkups later. Type 1 is skin herpes other than genitals, and type 2 is genital herpes. Natural birth is not recommended for type 2.
