What is the reason for the lack of endometrium?

Many women will experience symptoms of thin endometrium, which is also a common disease among women. It is mainly caused by the influence of estrogen. Endometrial damage or loss, artificial abortion, etc. can also cause the endometrium to be thin. Generally, the endometrium is considered thin if it is no thicker than 8 mm. So what are the other reasons besides these?

Cause

The causes of thin endometrium are divided into systemic factors and local factors. Systemic factors include endocrine disorders, such as low estrogen levels, insufficient progesterone, ovulation disorders and growth hormone deficiency; local factors are mainly endometrial damage, adhesion and absence.

Reason 1 for thin endometrium: severe endocrine disorder

The endometrium refers to the layer that makes up the inner wall of the mammalian uterus. It responds to both estrogen and progesterone, and therefore can undergo significant changes with the sexual cycle. Gynecological experts point out that estrogen can cause uterine hypertrophy, and progesterone can promote special changes in the endometrium in the early stages of pregnancy, or change the properties of the endometrium so that it has the ability to produce decidua. Therefore, severe endocrine disorders will lead to hormonal imbalance in the body, disrupt the cyclical changes of the endometrium, and cause thin endometrium.

Thin endometrium caused by simple endocrine factors can be clinically adjusted with hormones. Appropriate amounts of estrogen and progesterone can increase the thickness of the endometrium to a certain extent and improve the symptoms of thin endometrium.

The second reason for thin endometrium: artificial abortion

Artificial abortion is the main factor causing thin endometrium. Experts point out that multiple medical abortions or excessive abortion movements may cause thin endometrium. Some patients even haven't had their periods after an abortion. This shows that abortion has seriously damaged the endometrium and caused a thin endometrium.

Gynecological experts point out that the thin endometrium caused by artificial abortion usually takes a long time to recover, and some patients may not even be able to recover. Therefore, experts especially remind patients that if menstruation does not come on time after an abortion, they must see a doctor for examination.

Reason 3 for thin endometrium: uterine malformation

Uterine malformation is also a cause of thin endometrium, but it has been ignored for a long time. Clinically, some patients' uterine angiography is no longer an inverted pear shape, and is even long and thin. This thin endometrium caused by congenital malformation is generally difficult to treat clinically.

symptom

(1) Kidney deficiency type "thin endometrium" is more common in women who have not conceived. They usually have a late menarche or too little menstrual flow after menarche, late appearance of secondary sexual characteristics, and insufficient estrogen secretion after menstruation. Common symptoms include short menstrual period, very little menstrual flow, or even a few drops of menstrual flow, light red color, dizziness, tinnitus, back pain, weak legs, heel pain, etc.

(2) Blood deficiency type "thin endometrium" is more common in women between the ages of 30 and 40. It is mostly caused by spleen deficiency, poor appetite, malnutrition, improper weight loss, excessive fatigue, and long-term illness that damages the yin and blood. This phenomenon can easily lead to delayed menstruation and endometrial proliferation disorders. Common symptoms include scanty and light-colored menstruation that stops after one to two days or stops with just a few drops, dull pain in the lower abdomen, dizziness, palpitations, sallow complexion, pale nails, pale lips and tongue, and dry skin.

(3) Blood stasis type "thin endometrium" is seen in women with incomplete lochia discharge after childbirth, those who have undergone gynecological surgery or abortion, blood stasis in the uterus, or worry and anger leading to qi stagnation and blood stasis, endometrial adhesion, poor blood flow and low blood volume, purple and black color with lumps, and stabbing pain in the lower abdomen that is resistant to pressure.

Thickness Factor

It is generally believed that the thickness of the endometrium is 8-10mm, which is more suitable for conception. Experts say that if you have undergone an abortion with curettage, have uterine polyps, have undergone transhysterectomy, or have endometritis or polycystic ovary syndrome, the growth of the endometrium may be destroyed. Therefore, it is best for people who have undergone intrauterine surgery to check the thickness of the endometrium before conception. In addition, people who usually have less menstrual flow should also consider getting checked.

The endometrium is thickest during ovulation, so if your menstrual cycle is 28 days, you should check the thickness of your endometrium with ultrasound on the 8th, 10th, 12th and 14th day of your period. If the thickness of your endometrium does not reach 7mm by the 14th day of ovulation, it means that your endometrium is thin.
