What causes enlarged ovarian follicles?

Follicles have a normal size. Follicles cannot be too big or too small. If there is a problem with them, it will directly affect women's fertility. There are many reasons for abnormal follicles, but many people don't know the specific reasons, or have never understood the reasons for the enlarged follicles. So what is the reason for the enlarged follicles?

In order to effectively treat PCOS, the most important thing is to reduce the production of male hormones in the body, and then promote ovulation and restore fertility. At present, the main methods of treating polycystic ovary with traditional Chinese and Western medicine are:

1. Reduce weight: This method mainly reduces diet and increases exercise to achieve the goal of reducing weight.

2. Reduce androgen secretion: This method mainly uses targeted drugs to inhibit the secretion of gonadotropin by the pituitary gland, and then increases the synthesis of sex hormone binding protein in the liver, which can effectively reduce free androgen.

3. Promote ovulation: This type of treatment mainly uses a combination of carefully selected Chinese and Western medicines, and then conducts systematic conditioning step by step. This can maintain the function of the corpus luteum and promptly correct the lack of estrogen secretion. At the same time, it can effectively promote follicle formation, maturation and ovulation.

Follicles larger than 18mm are considered dominant follicles and can be fertilized if released. When a normal follicle grows to 18×19mm and the endometrium is 8mm thick, it is time for ovulation. But it should be noted that the size of the follicle when it is discharged varies from person to person. If you find that the follicle is larger than 1.8, you can test it every day. The daily growth rate of the follicle is 1-3mm. Pregnant mothers can go to the hospital for testing depending on the situation.

The follicle is considered normal when it reaches a diameter of 18-25mm. The size of the follicle for ovulation varies from person to person. Some follicles are released when they grow to 15mm, while others need to grow to 25mm. Follicular development is a continuous process, and the normal follicle diameter should be between 18-25mm.

The growth from primary follicle to mature follicle can be divided into 8 levels. It takes a total of 10 days from the 6th level follicle to the 8th level follicle, which is exactly the follicular phase in a menstrual cycle. Starting from 16mm, after another 2-3 days, it will develop into a 20mm follicle and then be discharged.

The pregnancy rate is relatively high when the follicles are between 18-25mm. Conception can only occur when the follicles are mature and ruptured. You can go to the hospital for an ultrasound in 3 days to see if the follicle has ruptured. If it has, that is the best time to have sex.
