Vulvar itching and swelling during menstruation

For women, the menstrual period is a relatively weak period. During this period, women are prone to various problems due to physical weakness, and vulvar itching is one of the common problems. Many factors, such as infection, lesions, allergies, etc., may cause vulvar itching and redness. Therefore, when encountering this situation, you must adopt different treatment methods according to the specific cause to solve the problem quickly and effectively!

1. What causes itching, redness and swelling of the vulva?

1. Special infections: Fungal vaginitis and Trichomonas are the most common. Both scabies and scabies can cause itching. The itching around the anus and vulva caused by typhus in young girls usually occurs at night. This kind of disease usually causes redness, swelling, itching and pain of the vulva. The symptoms are very obvious. It can be seen that the entire area around the young girl's anus is red and swollen.

2. White lesions of the vulva: also known as chronic vulvar malnutrition, with extreme itching as the main symptom, accompanied by whitening of the vulvar skin. Menopause due to ovarian dysfunction can cause vulvar itching.

3. Some women have irritating vaginal discharge that stimulates vulvar itching: such as senile, cervical erosion, oral fluid stimulation, diabetes, cystitis, pyelonephritis, aminuria, urinary incontinence, diabetes, etc.

4. Vulvar skin diseases, lichen planus, chronic eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, abrasions, paranasal rashes, tumors, etc.: Especially in spring, some bacterial microorganisms grow rapidly. Some women suffer from athlete's foot. Not paying attention to personal hygiene. Cross-infection causes vulvar infection to some tinea pedis. This leads to itching, redness and swelling of the vulva.

5. Some drug allergies and chemical stimulation: soap, Chlorhexidine, contraceptive devices, perineal pads, nylon pants and other chemical fiber fabrics can cause contact dermatitis and itching.

2. What should I do if my vulva is itchy, red and swollen?

1. General treatment: Pay attention to menstrual hygiene, keep the vulva clean and dry, and avoid scratching. Do not wash with hot water and avoid using soap. When there is an infection, potassium permanganate solution can be used for a sitz bath, but local scrubbing is strictly prohibited. Clothing, especially underwear, should be loose and breathable. Avoid alcohol and spicy or allergic foods.

2. Symptomatic treatment of vulvar itching:

(1) Topical medications: For acute inflammation, 1% resolsin plus 1 foil of livanol solution or 30% boric acid solution can be used for wet compresses and then 40% zinc oxide ointment can be applied topically after washing; for chronic itching, corticosteroid ointment or 2% diphenhydramine ointment can be applied.

(2) Oral medication: When symptoms are severe, you can take 4mSt of chlorpheniramine or 25mg of diphenhydramine, or 25ml of isopropylamine to achieve both sedation and desensitization effects.

3. Etiological treatment: Eliminate local or systemic factors that cause itching, such as Trichomonas, Candida infection or diabetes. If pubic lice are found, the pubic hair should be shaved and the underwear should be boiled and washed. You can also apply 1% malathion powder or 25%-50% Stemona tincture externally.

3. How to care for itchy and swollen vulva?

1. Be more careful when you go out and develop a good sense of hygiene and disease prevention, such as not using the hotel bathtub casually; wearing long pajamas; putting toilet paper under the toilet before using it, etc.! In short, you must pay more attention to hygiene.

2. Unless there are special circumstances, try to avoid using disinfectant lotions, medicated lotions, etc. Just wash the vulva with clean water. In addition, it is also important to change underwear every day.

3. Use other contraceptive methods. If you are prone to recurring candidal vulvitis, try not to use birth control pills and use other contraceptive methods, such as condoms.

4. Treat simultaneously. If you are infected with candidal vulvitis, not only you but also your partner needs treatment. Only when both parties are treated at the same time can the desired effect be achieved.
