Leukocyte esterase in vaginal secretions

Leukocyte esterase in vaginal secretions

Female secretions, which we often call secretions, are the fluid secreted by the female urinary system. They are mainly composed of secretions from the vaginal mucosa, cervical glands, Bartholin's glands and uterine wall. In addition, there are also secretions from the uterine wall and vaginal mucosa, which are commonly used in the diagnosis of female urinary tract inflammation, tumors and the analysis of estrogen levels.

Leukocyte lipase is an enzyme released by multi-component leukocytes and cannot be detected under normal conditions. When inflammation occurs in the body, multi-component leukocytes chemotaxis gather in the inflammatory area and release a large amount of lipase. Therefore, detecting the presence of leukocyte lipase in female secretions can reflect the degree of inflammation of the vaginal infection and also evaluate the cleanliness of the vagina.

Leukocyte lipase in routine leucorrhea examination is a specific indicator that reflects whether there are white blood cells in the sample being tested, and leukocyte lipase only reflects monocytes. The positive result of leukocyte lipase in routine examination of leucorrhea indicates the presence of mononuclear cells in the secretions, which indicates the presence of gynecological infectious diseases such as vaginitis, cervicitis, endometritis and so on. Simply relying on the test results of leukocyte lipase cannot accurately reflect the location of the inflammatory lesions and the actual type of microorganisms. It is necessary to combine routine leucorrhea examination, microbiological examination, and routine gynecological examination to confirm the diagnosis. If the diagnosis is bacterial infection of vaginal disease, you can consider placing metronidazole vaginal effervescent tablets in the female vagina for treatment. The actual medication must be taken according to the doctor's instructions. Pay attention to hygiene during the treatment period and strictly prohibit sexual intercourse.

If the secretion test shows that the leukocyte lipase is positive, it is a bacterial vaginitis, which is a metabolic substance produced by bacteria in the decomposition process. Therefore, if the test results show this situation, antibiotics should be used for treatment. Common antiviral drugs include metronidazole and clindamycin or levofloxacin. These antibiotics are very effective in treating bacterial vaginitis. The secretions can be taken for bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test, and drug treatment can be carried out based on the results of the drug sensitivity test, which will have a stronger effect. During the treatment period of vaginitis, you must not have sexual intercourse to prevent cross infection. After treatment, lactobacillus can be used in the vagina. It is a normal vaginal bacteria that can maintain the acidity and alkalinity of the female vagina, and Trichomonas vaginitis will be cured.
