Do I need a curettage if my endometrium is 16mm?

For many female friends, if they have symptoms such as endometrial hyperplasia, after a physical examination in the hospital, the first treatment method used by the doctor is mostly curettage. So, is curettage necessary for endometrial thickening? Does curettage have a big impact on the human body? Today, the editor will explain them to you one by one.

The uterine wall also undergoes regular changes due to the influence of endocrine. Generally, after the menstrual period is over, the uterine wall is very thin, usually about 5 mm, and it will reach 10 mm in the early ovulation period.

After ovulation, under the action of estrogen and progesterone, the uterine wall continues to thicken, reaching 15 to 20 mm in the early stages of menstruation.

If the endometrial thickness reaches 16, curettage is not necessary for ordinary people with normal menstruation.

However, if vaginal bleeding still occurs two or three years after menopause and the uterine wall is 16mm thick, it is recommended to do segmental curettage to rule out the possibility of endometrial cancer.

Does curettage have a big impact on the human body?

Because the thickness of women's endometrium is closely related to the estrogen in the human body, and estrogen in the female body is not a numerical value, but fluctuates with the body's endocrine system. Therefore, many women often experience symptoms of endometrial hyperplasia after curettage. Once this happens, they will use repeated curettage to treat it. At this time, how many times the uterus needs to be scraped for endometrial hyperplasia becomes one of the problems that confuses them.

In fact, what many women don’t know is that once a woman has endometrial hyperplasia, constantly using curettage to treat it is not a long-term solution. Repeated curettage can only remove the thickened uterine wall, which not only cannot regulate the disorder of hormones in the woman’s body, but may even damage the normal physiological function of the woman’s uterus.

Generally speaking, only two types of patients can be treated with curettage, namely patients with endometrial thickening accompanied by uterine fibroids and patients diagnosed with endometrial thickening due to menstruation after menopause. These two types of patients need to undergo a pathological examination after curettage for the first time. Apart from these two types, other adolescent women with endometrial hyperplasia can take medication to treat it, such as taking Fuyan Pills. If the medication is ineffective, they can consider curettage.

If medication is used, it is recommended to take Chinese herbal medicine for treatment. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, during the regular menstrual period, Tiankui is needed to smooth the Chong and Ren meridians and harmonize with the kidneys, so that the blood and Qi are balanced and the Chong and Ren meridians are abundant. If Chong and Ren meridians are damaged, they cannot be restrained, and menstruation occurs at an irregular time, resulting in metrorrhagia. The main reason for women's metrorrhagia is spleen and stomach deficiency, poor blood circulation, and qi deficiency and blood loss. Therefore, for the pathogenic system, Chinese herbal medicines that can promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, regulate qi, strengthen the spleen and replenish qi should be used for treatment.
