Women's menstruation is regulated by the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian gonadal axis. Mental factors, mood swings, environmental changes, pregnancy, age, illness, medication, and nutritional status can all cause dysfunction of the gonad axis and lead to menstrual abnormalities.

1. Continuous menstruation: Although some women have normal menstrual cycles, they may have a small amount of bleeding for several days before their period. The bleeding is often dark in color. The bleeding continues for several days after their period. The bleeding may continue for more than ten days before and after their period.

2. Ovulation bleeding: About 10 days after the menstruation ends, a small amount of bleeding flows out of the vagina again, sometimes it stops in one or two days, which is called ovulation bleeding.

3. Excessive menstrual flow: The menstrual cycle is normal, but the hospital's gynecological experts point out that the amount of bleeding each time is excessive, reaching hundreds of milliliters.

4. Frequent menstruation: The menstrual cycle is shortened, generally less than 21 days, and the amount of bleeding and number of bleeding days are normal.

5. Irregular uterine bleeding: menstruation occurs early or late, with no regularity at all.

Menstruation is a normal physiological phenomenon for women, but breastfeeding women may have their periods twice a month because they have just given birth and some aspects of their bodies have not fully recovered.
