Why is there a fear of heat in late pregnancy?

During pregnancy, expectant mothers will notice that there are great changes in their body shape and taste compared to the mother who is about to be pregnant. In addition, their sense of heat and cold is also different from that of ordinary people. Sometimes family members wear cotton clothes and cover themselves with thick mattresses, but the expectant mother only wears a thin coat and covers herself with a thin mattress and still feels hot. This is especially noticeable in winter. What is the reason for this?

Why do I feel cold in winter during late pregnancy?

1. Due to the influence of hormones during pregnancy, it is normal to be afraid of cold. From the beginning of pregnancy, the mother's body temperature has been changing secretly. Generally speaking, normal body temperature is between 36.9℃-37.2℃, which is slightly higher than that of ordinary people. This is because in the early stages of pregnancy, the uterus and ovaries produce progesterone, which will excrete progesterone and cause the body temperature to rise. The immune center is extremely sensitive to the effects of progesterone (also known as luteinizing hormone), and a certain amount of progesterone can cause the body temperature to rise. This is a normal situation and pregnant mothers don't need to worry too much.

2. The basal metabolism accelerates, and pregnant mothers are more afraid of cold. As the baby grows bigger day by day, the mother's blood volume increases, the blood circulation speeds up, the metabolism speeds up, more energy is released, the melting point increases, and the mother becomes more afraid of cold.

What to do if you are afraid of cold during late pregnancy

1. The diet should be as light as possible. Pregnant mothers with a more irritable physique should try to choose light and fresh foods in their diet, such as noodles, preserved egg tofu, cold yam, kelp shreds, etc., which can better increase their appetite during pregnancy.

2. Eat some heat-reducing foods appropriately. Pregnant mothers who have a very good gastrointestinal tract but a hot body constitution can choose foods that can help reduce fire, such as: mung beans, pears, melons, wild rice stems, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, mung beans, winter melons, radishes, etc. However, pregnant mothers should not eat too much of these cold foods to avoid causing damage to the stomach and intestines.

3. Avoid fried or grilled ingredients. Overly greasy food, fried food, spicy food, grilled food and other foods are easy to get angry and should be avoided as much as possible.

4. Eat less hot foods. For example: lychees, durian, sesame oil chicken, beef stew, ginger duck, etc. are all relatively hot foods. Try to avoid eating them in summer to prevent getting angry.

5. Don’t drink too much cold drinks. In summer, many pregnant women will eat various cold drinks, ice cream, etc. to cool down, but eating too much of these cold foods will cause gastrointestinal irritation, and more seriously, it will cause premature birth. Therefore, cold drinks should be eaten less.

The endocrine system of pregnant women is different from that of ordinary people, so there are differences in some things between them and ordinary people. There are many things that expectant mothers cannot eat during the preparation period, pregnancy, and confinement period. They cannot do what they like and have to give up many things. However, for the good of the baby in the belly, no matter how much they give up, they will feel happy. Therefore, expectant mothers should rest more and wait until the baby is older to do what they want to do with the baby.
