What should I do if my period is late?

As girls grow up, their bodies change and their periods will come as scheduled, but everyone's physical constitution is different and the timing of their periods may vary. When menstruation comes slowly and normally, some problems will arise. Some women will experience dysmenorrhea, late or early menstruation, strong menstrual odor, etc. Menstruation is not a problem. Every woman should pay attention to these problems. So what should you do when facing late menstruation?

Delayed menstruation means delayed menstruation. The female menstrual cycle is generally 21 to 35 days, with an average of 28 days. About 7 days earlier or later is still within the normal range, and the length of the cycle varies from person to person. However, if menstruation does not occur after more than 7 days, it is considered delayed menstruation.

Reasons for delayed menstruation

1. Endocrine abnormalities: The most common clinical condition is polycystic ovary syndrome, which should be treated as soon as possible to avoid problems that affect women's pregnancy.

2. Mental factors: If you suddenly experience abnormal emotions such as excessive mental stress, sadness, or a broken heart, it will often lead to delayed menstruation. In such cases, there is often breast pain, irritability, depression and discomfort, which generally do not require treatment.

3. Taking medicines causes delayed menstruation: Some medicines have side effects, which often cause delayed menstruation. For example, if you take birth control pills or emergency contraceptive pills for a long time, your menstrual cycle will usually be normal before you take these pills, but after you take them, your menstruation will be delayed.

4. Chronic diseases: Some chronic diseases often lead to delayed menstruation. Once a woman develops a chronic disease, she should treat the disease as soon as possible. When the disease is cured, menstruation will naturally resume.

5. Excessive weight loss leads to: In real life, many women take weight loss drugs or go on excessive diets in order to control their weight, which leads to delayed menstruation. Women's menstruation is closely related to the fat content in their body. If there is too much or too little fat, it will affect women's ovulation, etc.

There are many reasons for late menstruation. When menstruation is late, we must first pay attention to our daily diet, work and rest time, and keep warm in clothing. We should keep a good mood, exercise appropriately, eat more fruits and vegetables, and avoid eating blood-enriching foods. However, if there is no problem in daily life and menstruation still occurs, you should go to the hospital for examination.
