Can I take a bath during confinement?

Postpartum mothers must rest at home in their daily lives. They need to pay more attention to rest when driving and not overwork themselves. But they should never lie in bed for the whole month. Generally, mothers can get out of bed and do some simple activities about 3 days after giving birth. If you can do some postpartum gymnastics or yoga, it can help you restore your body shape as soon as possible. As for whether you can take a bath during the confinement period, if you don’t know much about it, just listen to the editor’s introduction below!

Will taking a bath during confinement have any adverse effects on the mother’s health? Some people have observed and recorded the physiological changes in the bodies of mothers who take a shower after delivery. After showering, the body temperature of 2/3 of the mothers increased, while that of 1/3 decreased slightly. However, whether the body temperature rises or falls, the fluctuation does not exceed 0.5 degrees Celsius, which is within the normal range. Blood pressure fluctuations are also minimal. It has no adverse effects on uterine contraction or the color, amount, odor and bleeding of daily lochia.

Compared with mothers who do not take a bath, those who take a bath after delivery have cleaner skin and a lower rate of infection in the perineum or other parts of the body. Taking a bath can also promote blood circulation and relieve fatigue caused by childbirth. After taking a bath, mothers generally feel refreshed. After showering, 84% of the mothers had improved complexion, deeper sleep, normal bowel movements, and recovered their strength faster.

It is generally believed that women who give birth normally can take a bath 2 to 5 days after delivery, but not earlier than 24 hours. Showering is the best option. It is not advisable to take a bath in a tub or a large pool within 6 weeks after delivery to avoid unclean bath water entering the reproductive tract and causing infection. You should avoid being on an empty stomach before taking a bath to prevent hypoglycemia, which may cause dizziness and other discomfort. Bathing time should not be too long, 5 to 10 minutes each time is enough. The room temperature of 20 degrees Celsius is most suitable. Adjust the shower water temperature to 34-36 degrees Celsius.

To sum up, the mother can take a bath after giving birth, but the editor reminds you to use warm water and not cold water. Generally, you can wash your hair once a week, but pay more attention to keeping warm and not catching cold. If you have a caesarean section, you need to take a bath again after about two weeks, depending on the healing of the wound.
