Is it painful for women to have a caesarean section?

Many women choose to have a cesarean section, always thinking that there will be no pain during this delivery. Is this really the case? In fact, it is wrong to say that women do not feel any pain during a cesarean section, because painless anesthesia will be used during the operation, so the pregnant woman will not feel any pain. Then why do many people choose to have a cesarean section? Is it really painless?

The anesthesia for caesarean section can only maintain the delivery process. After the effect of the drug wears off, the mother will actually feel the pain of the wound. The pain of a normal birth is prenatal pain, which lasts for a while. The pain of a caesarean section is postnatal pain, which lasts at least three days, and the postnatal recovery period is longer. Postpartum women will have difficulty in moving, and their movements will be affected for about a month. If symptoms such as wound infection occur, the suffering will be even greater. Therefore, for pregnant women who think that cesarean section is painless, they should change their views. The painlessness is only temporary and is the effect of the anesthetic.

Cesarean section is not just a single painful process. The most painful part is pressing to expel the lochia. This pain is an inevitable process. Because it is not a natural delivery, the only way to help expel the placenta and other remnants is by pressing. If lochia is not discharged cleanly, it will have a great impact on the recovery of the uterus, and vaginal bleeding will continue, causing other symptoms. At the same time, uterine contractions can also cause pain in the wound. During the recovery period, slightly strenuous exercise or a cold or cough may affect the wound and cause unexpected injury.

In fact, no matter what kind of delivery it is, there will be a certain degree of pain, especially for women who have a caesarean section. They do not feel pain at the time, but there will be pain for a while after anesthesia, and the wound needs some time to recover. So you need to recover well. It doesn’t mean that caesarean section is not painful at all.
