What is the cause of cold pain in the lower abdomen?

Menstrual pain is a common disease among women, and many women are very troubled by it. During menstruation, people usually take painkillers to solve the problem. Although it can temporarily relieve the urgent need, it does not cure the symptoms and the root cause. Traditional Chinese medicine attaches great importance to the treatment based on syndrome differentiation in the treatment of dysmenorrhea.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the main cause of this disease is the poor circulation of blood and qi, which is the so-called "pain due to obstruction". It is mostly caused by emotional discomfort, liver qi stagnation, blood circulation obstruction, menstruation stagnation in the uterus, or catching cold before menstruation, drinking cold drinks, lying in a wetland park, dampness and cold invading the uterus, and menstruation being condensed by dampness and cold; or insufficient constitution, qi and blood deficiency after a long period of serious illness, depression in the blood sea, and deficiency of uterine vessels after menstruation; or liver qi stagnation for a long time turns into fire, heat enters the blood, blood heat is intertwined, and blood circulation is affected.

Traditional Chinese medicine divides dysmenorrhea into three types: deficiency syndrome, cold syndrome and heat syndrome. In clinical medicine, cold syndrome is more common. The symptoms include cold pain in the lower abdomen before menstruation or during menstruation, the pain point is resistant to pressure, and it extends to the waist and spine. It is relieved by heat. The menstrual volume is small, dark in color with blood clots, the tongue is white and greasy, and the pulse is deep and tight. For menstrual pain caused by cold syndrome, why not try plastering? The acupoints we often use are:

Sanyinjiao: Located 3 inches directly above the tip of the medial malleolus, in the depression behind the medial edge of the ankle joint. This point is the intersection point of the three yin meridians of the foot. Combined with moxibustion therapy, it has the effect of clearing, nourishing and promoting blood circulation.

Qihai Point: On the front middle web, one and a half inches below the navel. Qihai point is an acupuncture point on the Ren meridian of the human body. It can promote qi, activate blood circulation, remove blood stasis, and regulate the Chong and Ren meridians through the uterus.

Guanyuan Point: Located on the middle web, 3 inches below the navel. Guanyuan point is where the primordial energy is stored. Moxibustion on Guanyuan point can enhance the body's resistance to cold.

It can be used for all acupoints, usually applied three days before menstruation, and has the effects of promoting qi and blood circulation, relieving pain, and promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis.

In addition, you can also use the "warm moxibustion patch" to stick it on the belly button, which can relax the meridians and remove blood stasis, relax the meridians and dredge the blood vessels, regulate qi and blood, and enhance the body's immunity. It is usually applied on the belly button during menstruation. This type of moxibustion patch is generally sold in pharmacies and can be applied at home. This method is simple and easy, painless, and has no side effects.

What also needs to be noted here is that you should get rid of your fear in the few days before the menstrual period. Excessive mental stress or sitting for a long time will cause poor blood circulation and menstrual dysfunction; you should try to regulate your mood, avoid obvious mental stimulation, and maintain a good mood; you should pay attention to a reasonable diet during the menstrual period, and avoid eating cold foods before and during the menstrual period to prevent cold from clotting blood and aggravating menstrual pain; those with heavy menstrual flow should not eat spicy and dry foods to prevent heat from forcing blood circulation and causing more bleeding. Avoid the indiscriminate use of drugs and treat the menstrual pain based on the cause. If the diagnosis is appropriate and the treatment is based on the symptoms, it can not only relieve the pain in time, but also eliminate the cause of the pain and avoid the onset of menstrual cramps.
