The difference between breast nodules and cysts

The difference between breast nodules and cysts

When going to the hospital for a physical examination, the thing that people are most worried about hearing is problems related to the breast. Patients are afraid of these diseases, but it is difficult for them to face these problems. In addition, there is a high possibility of missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis, which makes it easy for people to not understand or recognize that breast nodules and cysts are different. Breast nodules are only early symptoms of the disease, while cysts are the result of examination.

1. Breast hyperplasia nodules

2. Breast fibroids

3. Breast cyst

4. Breast cancer

5. Non-lactation mastitis

Based on the characteristics of breast nodules, they are generally divided into the following categories in medicine, which you can also refer to for preliminary judgment and understanding.

1. Breast hyperplasia nodules:

This type of breast nodule is generally small and more numerous, and is accompanied by breast pain, especially pain before menstruation. It is also characteristic that the nodules can become smaller and softer after menstruation.

2. Breast fibroids:

It is more common in young people aged 20 to 30. It is often a single nodule in the breast, which is movable when touched and not obviously painful.

3. Breast cysts:

The so-called cyst refers to a tumor whose contents are liquid. Ultrasound examination can be used to determine whether the nodule is solid or cystic. Simple breast cysts are generally benign. Foreign surveys have found that about 40% of postmenopausal women have breast cysts of varying sizes. Some patients with breast cysts may also experience nipple discharge.

4. Breast cancer

The nodules of breast cancer feel hard, fixed and difficult to move, and may be accompanied by symptoms such as nipple retraction, orange peel-like changes in the skin, and enlarged axillary lymph nodes.

5. Non-lactation mastitis:

As the name suggests, it is mastitis that occurs when the baby is not breastfeeding. This disease is becoming more and more common and is easily misdiagnosed as breast cancer. The main symptoms are lumps in the breast and areola, ulcers forming chronic wounds that are difficult to heal, etc., and may also be accompanied by nipple retraction, orange peel-like changes in the skin, etc.

In fact, it is not so easy to distinguish the nature and type of breast nodules, so once you find nodules and lumps on your breasts, you should go to the hospital for examination and diagnosis in time.
