Clinical manifestations of cervical cancer

Clinical manifestations of cervical cancer

How many people know about cervical cancer? According to statistics, the incidence of cervical cancer has decreased significantly, but there are still some cervical cancer patients. In order to prevent this from happening, we only need to understand the symptoms of the disease to identify what the disease is, and it is also easy to find a better treatment method.

There are no symptoms in the early stages of cervical cancer. As the disease progresses, patients may experience abnormal vaginal bleeding. Because young women are in their sexually active period, their estrogen levels and sexual intercourse frequency are higher, so they are more likely to have bleeding during sexual intercourse as the first symptom. In addition, excessive vaginal discharge is also a common symptom of cervical cancer, and about 80% of cervical cancer patients have this symptom.

Clinical follow-up observations show that it takes about 10 years for common cervical precancerous lesions to develop into cervical cancer. From this perspective, cervical cancer is not terrible. It is a preventable and curable disease. The key to prevention is to conduct regular gynecological examinations, promptly handle and treat cervical precancerous lesions, and stop their development into cervical cancer. Cervical cancer has a high cure rate if prevention measures are implemented.

There are usually no symptoms in the early stages, and there is no significant difference from chronic cervicitis. Sometimes the cervix may even be smooth, especially in middle-aged women whose cervix has already shrunk. The symptoms are as follows:

Vaginal bleeding: Young patients often present with irregular bleeding, which occurs during sexual intercourse, gynecological examinations, and after defecation. Bleeding may be more or less, depending on the size of the disease and the extent of invasion into the interstitial blood vessels. The initial bleeding is less, and the late stage disease is severe with heavy bleeding. Young patients may also have symptoms such as prolonged menstruation, shortened cycle time, and increased menstrual volume. Irregular vaginal bleeding after menopause is common in elderly patients.

Vaginal discharge: Vaginal discharge increases, is milky white or thick, thinner like water or millet soup, and has a fishy odor. In the late stage, due to the rupture of cancerous tissue, tissue necrosis, secondary infection, etc., a lot of pus-like or millet soup-like foul-smelling secretions are discharged.

Symptoms of advanced cancer: Secondary symptoms may occur depending on the extent of disease involvement. When the disease spreads to the pelvic connective tissue, pelvic wall, compressed urethra or duodenum, and lumbar vertebrae compress the nerves, the patient often complains of frequent and urgent urination, inability to hold urine, anal prolapse, constipation, anal prolapse, swelling and pain in the lower limbs, etc. In more serious cases, it can cause urethral obstruction, hydronephrosis, and ultimately uremia. In the later stages of the disease, patients may experience weight loss, anemia, fever and general decline.

The above is an expert’s introduction to the clinical symptoms of cervical cancer. I hope that the above content will be of some help to everyone. I also hope that everyone will pay attention to the manifestations of this disease. After all, it is a gynecological disease that is very harmful to us. We must not be careless. Only early detection can provide the best time for treatment. Finally, I wish you good health.
