Symphysis pubis pain in late pregnancy

Symphysis pubis pain in late pregnancy

It is very hard for women when they are pregnant, especially in the late pregnancy when they will experience pain in the pubic symphysis, which is most obvious when going up and down stairs. Many people worry that this pain will be harmful to the body. In fact, this is a normal phenomenon and is more common in the late pregnancy. When this phenomenon occurs, it is usually because the baby is moving downwards and preparing for delivery. There is no need to be too nervous.

Ways to relieve pubic symphysis pain

1. Don’t endure the pain. If certain movements cause you pain, try to avoid them. If you let this pain fester, it can take a long time to recover.

2. The range of motion should be small in normal times. When you do some movements with a large amplitude, you may not feel the pain right away, but you will feel it later or when you are sleeping.

3. Sit down and rest often. When sitting, keep your back as straight as possible and support it.

4. Avoid lifting or pushing heavy objects (pushing a supermarket cart can be particularly painful).

5. Try to keep your knees together and avoid spreading your legs; sit firmly when putting on and taking off pants, and do not stand on one leg.

6. When climbing stairs, take one step at a time. Place your stronger or more convenient leg onto the step first, then move your other leg forward. Repeat this movement for each step you take.

7. Regular pelvic floor muscle exercises and lower abdominal exercises can help relieve the pressure on the pelvis caused by pregnancy.

These items can help relieve pubic pain

1. Small pillow: Put a small pillow between your legs when you sleep to relieve pain.

2. Ice pack: When you feel pain, you can place an ice pack on your pubic bone for cold compress.

3. Lumbar pillow: If you are a working mother who sits in the office every day, placing a lumbar pillow behind you will make you more comfortable.

4. Pelvic restraint: If the situation is very serious, you can use an elastic band to restrain the pelvis to reduce the pressure on the pelvis. However, it must be used under the guidance of a doctor to avoid affecting the baby's development.

5. Backpack: Expectant mothers with pubic pain should carry less heavy objects. If necessary, using a backpack will be more comfortable.
