Can ordinary color Doppler ultrasound detect deformities?

Modern people attach great importance to pregnancy checkups, because timely examinations can detect fetal abnormalities early and allow parents to promptly determine how to deal with them. Among them, the examination of fetal malformations is a very important content. This is an important basic condition to ensure the completeness of the fetus at birth. The commonly used means of examination is color ultrasound. Let's take a look at whether ordinary color ultrasound can detect malformations?

Ordinary ultrasound examinations can only detect relatively obvious deformities, such as some missing deformities or encephalocele, but it cannot detect congenital heart structural deformities. At six months of pregnancy, the fetus has basically developed. It is the best time to do a four-dimensional color ultrasound, which can show whether the fetus is developing normally. Pay attention to keeping a good mood during pregnancy and eat a variety of foods to facilitate fetal development.

Ordinary color ultrasound is two-dimensional color ultrasound, and four-dimensional color ultrasound is actually real-time three-dimensional color ultrasound, which is based on two-dimensional color ultrasound. Only professionals can understand two-dimensional color ultrasound, while four-dimensional color ultrasound is more intuitive and can be understood by ordinary people. However, two-dimensional color ultrasound can fully meet the requirements for screening of fetal congenital diseases.

Generally, color ultrasound can show the baby's head circumference, biparietal diameter, bone development of the limbs, hands, feet, and large organs, with an emphasis on the heart, liver, kidneys, stomach, etc. It can also measure the umbilical cord blood flow to see whether the fetal blood supply is adequate, and can also look at the condition of small parts, such as the mouth, nose, facial features, whether there is a cleft lip (mild ones may not be clear), etc. However, it also depends on the baby's fetal position in the belly, and not all places can be seen at once. Four-dimensional color ultrasound can show some deformities that are difficult to show in black and white ultrasound, because it can form surface images, and congenital malformations such as cleft lip and palate, limb malformations, meningocele, spina bifida, abdominal wall cleft, etc. of the fetus can also be detected more clearly. Furthermore, the diagnostic data is also helpful for doctor consultation.
