At how many weeks of gestation does the fetus enter the pelvis?

At how many weeks of pregnancy does the fetus enter the pelvis? The "engagement of the fetus" mentioned here actually refers to the pelvic cavity, which means that the fetus's posture is ready for delivery. This is called engagement of the fetus into the pelvis. Generally, the fetus enters the pelvis around 38 weeks. This is knowledge that every pregnant woman should know. If you want to give birth to your child smoothly, pregnant women should take appropriate delivery measures, such as controlling the amount of food during pregnancy, balancing the amount of film and television, and doing appropriate exercise to make the uterine muscles more flexible, which will make natural delivery smoother for those who give birth naturally.

What is pelvic flooring?

In the late stage of pregnancy, the baby will be surrounded by amniotic fluid and fetal membranes, with his (her) head down, buttocks up, and the whole body curled up, waiting to meet his (her) prospective parents. However, in order to make the delivery smoother, the baby's body position needs to be consolidated, so the baby's head will enter the pelvic cavity through the mother's pelvic entrance, which is called engagement.

Generally speaking, the baby usually enters the pelvis between the 36th week of pregnancy and before the onset of labor pains. Most primiparas enter the pelvis two weeks before the due date, while most multiparas enter the pelvis before the onset of labor pains. However, some women complete the entire process within a few days. Therefore, the time and process of pelvic flooring vary from person to person. Generally speaking, once the expectant mother's fetal head enters the pelvis, the fetal position will not change easily.

When does the fetus enter the pelvis?

As the pregnancy weeks increase, pregnant women often feel abdominal tightness or occasional abdominal pain in the late pregnancy. This is a normal phenomenon. It is the force pushing the fetal head downward, and the fetal head gradually descends. For the first birth, the fetal head usually enters the pelvis around 36 weeks, accounting for 80%-90% of primiparas. However, there are still 10%-20% that have to wait until labor occurs before entering the pelvis. Multiparous women often do not enter the pelvis until around the time of delivery. If the doctor has determined that there is no cephalopelvic disproportion, there is no need to worry too much about whether the fetal head enters the pelvis on time. For some primiparas, the fetal head may enter the pelvis after the onset of uterine contractions. Changes in fetal position (LOA or ROA) before uterine contractions begin have little clinical significance. Increase the amount of exercise appropriately (mainly walking), and use a maternity belt to fix the abdomen and fetus, which can help the fetus enter the pelvis as soon as possible.
